A couple of weeks ago we spotted this new flavour of Cadbury Chocolate in the supermarket and to say I was a little bit excited was an understatement…..
I immediately knew I wanted to use it to make a version of my favourite no bake Caramello Slice recipe and as soon as we got home from the shops we started putting it together. Both my little helpers were eager to get involved with the action and a square (or two) of chocolate may have not made it into our slice. They both had a great time using the rolling pin to break up the biscuits. However as they are still learning about the concept of sharing I ended up confiscating the rolling pin and blitzing the biscuits in the Thermomix.
Our littlest man soon lost interest when he realised he couldn’t hit his brother or eat anymore chocolate and wandered away to play with some Lego. Our big boy stuck around with the goal of scoring the spoons to lick once we’d finished.
This Salted Caramello Slice is based on the same no bake slice recipe I regularly use to make Clinkers Slice, Caramello Slice and Peppermint Slice. It turned out to be a winner and if you can’t find any Salted Caramel Chocolate, you can easily substitute a block of Caramello Chocolate with a little salt to get a similar result.
No Bake Salted Caramello Slice
Ingredients
- 200 g block of Cadbury Salted Caramel Chocolate
- 200 g of Marie or similar biscuits
- 125 g of butter
- 1 cup 250g of condensed milk (just under a full tin)
- 200 g of milk chocolate
Instructions
- Line a slice tin with baking paper, making sure you leave plenty hanging over the edge to help you lift the slice out of the tin later.
- Crush the biscuits into large pieces using a food processor, or a rolling pin will also work! Place the crushed biscuits into a large bowl and set aside.
- Place the butter and condensed milk into a small saucepan and cook it over a low heat until the butter has melted and both ingredients have combined.
- Break the Salted Caramel Chocolate into pieces and place it into a microwave safe bowl and cook for 30 second spurts until the chocolate has almost melted. Stir with a metal spoon until the chocolate has completely melted.
- Pour the combined condensed milk and butter along with the melted chocolate into the bowl with the crushed biscuits. Use a large metal spoon to mix together.
- Pour the mixture into your lined baking tin and use the back of a metal spoon to spread the mixture evenly across the tray and push down to create a flat surface.
- Break the milk chocolate into small pieces and place it into a microwave safe bowl. Cook for 30 sec spurts (stirring in between) until the chocolate has almost melted. Remove from the microwave and stir until completely melted.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the top of the slice and place in the fridge to set (preferably 4+ hours).
- Remove the set slice from the fridge and cut into small pieces.
**Please note, if you are unable to find a block of Salted Caramel Chocolate, simply add ½ a teaspoon of salt to a block of Caramello Chocolate.
