Slice Ingredients:
To make this recipe, you will need:
- Licorice Allsorts – you can use any brand for this recipe. I do recommend checking the weight of the bag that you buy as you may need a couple to make this recipe.
- Plain Sweet Biscuits – I use Arnott’s Marie Biscuits for this recipe however you can use any other type of plain biscuits including Digestive Biscuits for this recipe.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk – you will need approximately ½ a tin of sweetened condensed milk for this recipe. You can also use skim sweetened condensed milk if you prefer.
- Butter – I use unsalted for this recipe.
- Desiccated coconut – don’t use shaved or coconut flakes for this recipe.
- Golden Syrup – can be substituted with honey or rice malt syrup, please note the sweetness of the slice will be impacted.
How to Make Licorice Allsort Slice:
Making this recipe really is simple – I promise! You can find the complete instructions in the recipe card below.
Step 1. Crush the biscuits (in a food processor or Thermomix) and roughly chop the Licorice Allsorts.
Step 2. Melt the butter and combine with the sweetened condensed milk and golden syrup.
Step 3. Add the remaining slice ingredients and mix well to combine.
Step 4. Transfer the mixture to a baking tray and press down with the back of a spoon to flatten the surface.
Step 5. Melt the chocolate and pour over the top of the slice before placing into the fridge to set.
Step 6. Using a sharp knife, cut into pieces.
Hints and Tips:
- You can use your Thermomix to chop the Licorice Allsorts if you wish however I do prefer to roughly chop them with a knife.
- Add a little coconut oil to the chocolate layer to assist with cutting the slice without any cracks. This is optional or alternatively use copha or vegetable oil in its place.
- You will need to use desiccated coconut for this recipe as coconut flakes or shredded coconut will give the slice a different consistency.
- This slice is best stored in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoyed within 7 days.
- You can freeze this slice without the chocolate layer for up to three months.
