    Looking for the BEST Pizza Scrolls recipe? Well these Hawaiian Pizza Scrolls are yeast free, require just a few basic ingredients and best of all, they take less than 30 minutes to make!

    These easy Pizza Scrolls are also great for lunchboxes and snacks and they are freezer friendly too. Both regular and Thermomix instructions also included.

    Yeast Free – as you are using self-raising flour as a raising agent, the prep time for these scrolls is reduced.

    Versatile – you can add your favourite fillings to this recipe, they are also delicious made with capsicum pieces and salami!

    Pizza Scroll Ingredients

    Yeast Free Scroll Dough Ingredients

    To make the yeast free pizza scroll dough, you will just need four simple ingredients: Self-raising flour, butter, salt and milk. It is important to use self-raising and not plain flour for this recipe, if using plain flour your scrolls will not rise.

    I also recommend using butter that has come straight from the fridge as it will combine more easily with the flour and salt.

    Pizza Scroll Filling Ingredients

    As I mentioned earlier, you really can use whatever ingredients you like when making this recipe, here are a few of my ingredient tips:

    Cheese – I use either mozzarella or tasty cheese when making this recipe. You can also use a combination of both if you prefer.

    Pizza Sauce – you can use store bought or homemade.

    Ham – I also use shaved ham for the recipe, however you can use shredded ham, bacon pieces, salami or even leftover roast chicken.

    How to Make Pizza Scrolls

    Step 1. Using either your fingertips or a Thermomix, combine the chilled butter with the self-raising flour and salt until it resembles breadcrumbs.

    Step 2. Add the milk and knead until a dough forms.

    Step 3. Transfer the dough to bench top and roll into a ball.

    Step 4. Roll the dough into a 30 x 40cm rectangle.

    Step 5. Top with Pizza Sauce, ham, pineapple and cheese.

    Step 6. Roll the dough into a log to enclose the filling.

    Step 7. Slice the dough into 12 equal pieces, approximately 3cm wide.

    Tips for Making Pizza Scrolls:

    You can use tasty/cheddar cheese instead of mozzarella if you prefer.

    When adding the Pizza Sauce and filling, leave a 2cm gap from the edge of the dough as this will ensure the filling ingredients don’t spill out the ends when you are trying to roll the dough.

    When rolling, start from the edge furtherest away from you and roll forwards.

    If making these Pizza Scrolls in a warmer climate, the dough can become soft. Place it into the fridge for 20 minutes to cool down and firm before slicing into pieces.

    For best results, use a sharp serrated knife to cut your scrolls.

    I recommend placing the scrolls quite close together on the baking tray (almost touching) so that they rise up and not out when baking.

    To make smaller scrolls, roll the dough into a larger rectangle. Please note this will impact the cooking time.

    Store cooked scrolls in the fridge and enjoy within 5 days. Both uncooked and cooked scrolls can be frozen for two months.

    Can you reheat Pizza Scrolls?

    Yes you sure can! You can pop them into the microwave to cook for 30 second spurts or place in your Air Fryer and cook for 3 minutes at 190 degrees.

    Can you freeze Pizza Scrolls?

    Yes! These Pizza Scrolls can be frozen for up to 3 months. I place frozen Pizza Scrolls directly into my kids lunch boxes and they thaw by the time they are ready to eat them.

    How do you make Pizza Scrolls in an Air Fryer?

    Follow my recipe below up to step 7 and then place the Pizza Scrolls into the basket of your Air Fryer and cook for 7 – 9 minutes at 190 degrees. The time it takes to cook your scrolls will depend on the brand of your Air Fryer

    • 1 x Baking Tray
    • Rolling Pin

    Ingredients
      

    • 2 cups self raising flour 300 grams + extra to dust your bench with.
    • 90 grams butter
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ⅔ cup milk 150 grams
    • ¼ cup pizza sauce
    • 1 cup grated mozzarella cheese plus an extra ¼ cup
    • 100 grams ham
    • 80 grams pineapple pieces

    Instructions
     

    • Preheat your oven to 210 degrees celsius (fan-forced) and line an oven tray with baking paper.
    • Sift flour and salt together in a large bowl and rub in the butter until the mixture is the consistency of bread crumbs.
    • Slowly add the milk and use a butter knife to combine.Turn out the dough and knead until it forms a smooth ball.Use a rolling pin to roll dough out until you have a 30 x 40cm rectangle.
    • Spoon the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 2cm gap around the edges.
    • Scatter the ham, pineapple and cheese over the pizza sauce.
    • Starting at the long side furtherest away from you, carefully roll the dough until enclosed.
    • Cut into 12 slices – approximately 2cm thick.
    • Place on a baking tray and sprinkle with a little extra grated cheese.
    • Bake in oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown on top and cooked through.

    Thermomix Instructions

    • Preheat your oven to 210 degrees celsius (fan-forced) and line an oven tray with baking paper.
    • Place the flour, butter and salt into the Thermomix bowl and mix for 10 seconds on speed 9 until mixture is the same consistency as bread crumbs.
    • Add the milk and mix for 7 seconds on speed 4 to combine.
    • Use the kneading function to knead the dough for 2 minutes
    • Turn the dough out onto a floured bench and using a rolling pin, roll the dough out until you have a 30cm x 40cm rectangle.
    • Spoon the pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a 2cm gap around the edges.
    • Scatter the ham, pineapple and cheese over the pizza sauce.
    • Starting at the long side furtherest away from you, carefully roll the dough until enclosed.
    • Cut into 12 slices – approximately 2cm thick.
    • Place on a baking tray and sprinkle with a little extra grated cheese.
    • Bake in oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown on top and cooked through.

    Notes

      I hate working with yeast, it never seems to obey me, so I love that the dough is so easy I can ever make it! Ham and pineapple is one of our favourite combinations. Too easy!
