This nut free Muesli Slice is a delicious snack and it’s also great for lunch boxes too!

Nut Free Muesli Slice

I grew up enjoying my Mum’s Muesli Slice recipe and this nut free variation is a favourite of my boys too. This recipe is incredibly forgiving and you can add/swap or leave out many of the seeds and dried fruits to suit your taste. We also enjoy it made with sultanas, currants, dried apricots and even dates.

I like to cut this slice into small squares (perfect size for my kids lunch boxes, however you can also cut this slice into bars if your prefer. This slice is a little crumbly and it’s best to wait until it has cooled completely before slicing into squares or bars.

Tips for Making this Nut Free Muesli Slice:

  • You can use wheat germ in place of unprocessed bran. Also, you can leave it out is you wish, just add some extra rolled oats.
  • You can use plain flaxseeds for this recipe if you can’t find golden flaxseeds (I get mine from the health food aisle at our local supermarket).
  • Instead of flaxseeds, you can also use sunflower seeds, pepitas, chia seed or a combination of all three.
  • When your slice comes out of the oven it’s normal for there to be a little butter bubbling on the surface.
  • It’s best to cut this slice once it’s cool.
  • You can freeze this slice.
