    Magic Slice

    This easy Magic Slice has a buttery biscuit based and is topped with chocolate chips, coconut, dried apricots, almonds and of course, sweetened condensed milk! You can prepare this slice in less than 15 minutes and it is then simply a matter of waiting for it to bake. Both regular and Thermomix instructions can be found in the recipe card below.

    If you are looking for a simple sweet slice, this recipe is for you, however be warned, this slice is seriously addictive!

    Why you will love this recipe:

    • Simple to prepare – Once you have combined the crushed biscuits with melted butter, it is then simply just a matter of topping the slice with the rest of the ingredients before popping it into the oven.
    • Versatile – Don’t have any dried apricots? You can use any other type of dried fruits including raisins, sultanas or cranberries instead.
    • Quick to prepare – This slice can be ready to go into the oven in under 15 minutes!

    Ingredients

    Please note you will find the full list of ingredients and both regular and Thermomix methods in the recipe card below.

    • Marie Biscuits – you can also use any other type of plain sweet biscuit for this recipe.
    • Butter – I use unsalted butter for this recipe.
    • Chocolate Chips – milk, dark or white chocolate chips can be used.
    • Coconut – I prefer to use desiccated coconut.
    • Apricots – you can substitute for any type of dried fruits.
    • Almonds – I have used slivered almonds in the slice pictured however you can use any type of almonds OR other nuts or seeds if you prefer.
    • Sweetened condensed milk – you will need a full can for this recipe.
    Ingredients to make Magic Slice.

    How to Make Magic Slice

    1. Crush the biscuits (you can use a food processor, Thermomix or crush with a rolling pin to do this) and combine with the melted butter.
    2. Press the biscuit mixture into the base of a lined baking tray.

    3. Sprinkle with the Chocolate Chips.

    4. Add the coconut.

    5. Then add the dried apricots and almonds before topping with the sweetened condensed milk.

    6. Bake until golden.

    7. Allow the slice to completely cool before removing from the baking tray and cutting into pieces.

    Expert Tips

    • This slice is very versatile. You can substitute the apricots for any other type of dried fruits.
    • The almonds can be substituted with other nuts or seeds.
    • I used Marie Biscuits for the base however you can use any other type of plain sweet biscuits.
    • Be careful to not overcook the slice, the base will harden and the top will start to burn if left in the oven for too long.
    • This slice is best stored in an airtight container in a cool dark position. If in a warmer climate, you can store in the fridge and allow the slice to return to room temperature before consuming.
    • This recipe is not freezer friendly.

    Equipment

    • 1 x 18 x 28cm baking dish

    Ingredients
      

    • 250 grams Marie Biscuits See recipe notes
    • 180 grams butter melted
    • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
    • 1 cup desiccated coconut
    • 250 grams dried apricots cut into small pieces
    • 100 grams slivered almonds
    • 395 grams sweetened condensed milk

    Instructions
     

    • Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees celsius (fan-forced) and line an 18 x 28cm baking dish with baking paper. Set aside until needed.
    • Place the butter into a microwave safe bowl and cook for 30 second spurts until melted.
    • Crush the biscuits using a food processor, Thermomix or rolling pin and place into a large bowl. Add the melted butter and stir to combine.
    • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and push down to flatten the surface.
    • Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the base of the slice.
    • Sprinkle the desiccated coconut, chopped dried apricots and almonds over the slice.
    • Pour over the sweetened condensed milk.
    • Place the slice into the pre-heated oven and bake for 32 – 35 minutes or until golden on top.
    • Allow the slice to completely cool before slicing into pieces.

    Thermomix instructions

    • Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees celsius (fan-forced) and line an 18 x 28cm baking dish with baking paper. Set aside until needed.
    • Place the dried apricots into the Thermomix bowl and chop for 1 second spurts using the turbo function until desired size is achieved. Set aside until needed.
    • Without washing the bowl, add the butter and cook for 3 minutes, 60 degrees, speed 2 or until melted.
    • Add the crushed biscuits and mix for 12 seconds, speed 3 to combine.
    • Follow instructions as above from step 4.

    Notes
