Made using just a few simple ingredients, this easy Cheese Sauce recipe can be ready to enjoy in 10 minutes. It is the perfect accompaniment to your silverside (corned beef) or veggies and it can also be used when making Lasagna or as a sauce for your pasta bake.

I make it regularly, and use it on anything from Lasagna, Cannelloni, poured over steamed or roasted Vegetables and Pasta Bakes – it would also be great served with Silverside.
Cheese Sauce Ingredients
Cheese – I use a mixture of Tasty (Cheddar) and Parmesan Cheese, however you can use just Tasty Cheese if you prefer.
Milk – either full or skim milk can be used.
Pepper – to avoid any black specs of pepper in your sauce, use ground white pepper.
How to Make Cheese Sauce:
To make, simply grate the cheeses and then add the remaining ingredients. Cook over a medium/low heat stirring gently until mixture is thick.
Tips for Making This Recipe:
You can use just Tasty (Cheddar) Cheese for this recipe if you don’t have any parmesan cheese.
This Cheese Sauce can be frozen, however I would recommend using it within 24 hours of making for best results.
I prefer to use a mixture of tasty (cheddar) and parmesan cheese as this combination helps to give added flavour.
This recipe can be made a 2-3 days in advance, store covered in the fridge until needed.

This Cheese Sauce is best served alongside Silverside (Corned Beef), Steamed Veggies, Pasta Bake and also perfect when making Lasagna.

Easy Cheese Sauce Recipe
Equipment

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter 30 grams
- 2 tablespoons plain flour 20 grams
- 1 cup milk 250 grams
- 1 cup tasty cheese 100 grams
- ½ cup parmesan cheese 50 grams
- pinch Salt and pepper Use white pepper if you don't want black pepper flakes in you sauce.
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Grate the cheeses and set aside until needed.
- Place all ingredients into a saucepan (not over heat).
- Turn on the stove to a medium high heat and using a whisk stir constantly until mixture thickens just below boiling point. This should only take a few minutes.
- Remove sauce from stove top and if not using immediately, cover the top with a piece of cling film to stop a skin from forming.
