Made using just a few simple ingredients, this easy Cheese Sauce recipe can be ready to enjoy in 10 minutes. It is the perfect accompaniment to your silverside (corned beef) or veggies and it can also be used when making Lasagna or as a sauce for your pasta bake.

Why you will love this recipe:

This recipe has a lot going for it. It’s easy to make, practically no fail and is so versatile.

I make it regularly, and use it on  anything from Lasagna, Cannelloni, poured over  steamed or roasted Vegetables and Pasta Bakes – it would also be great served with Silverside.

    Cheese Sauce Ingredients

Cheese – I use a mixture of Tasty (Cheddar) and Parmesan Cheese, however you can use just Tasty Cheese if you prefer.

Milk – either full or skim milk can be used.

Pepper – to avoid any black specs of pepper in your sauce, use ground white pepper.

    How to Make Cheese Sauce:

To make, simply grate the cheeses and then add the remaining ingredients. Cook over a medium/low heat stirring gently until mixture is thick.

    Tips for Making This Recipe:

You can use just Tasty (Cheddar) Cheese for this recipe if you don’t have any parmesan cheese.

This Cheese Sauce can be frozen, however I would recommend using it within 24 hours of making for best results.

I prefer to use a mixture of tasty (cheddar) and parmesan cheese as this combination helps to give added flavour.

Can you make this Cheese Sauce in advance?

This recipe can be made a 2-3 days in advance, store covered in the fridge until needed.

What is the difference between White Sauce and Cheese Sauce?

They are both made with similar ingredients and can be used for similar purposes

What do you serve Cheese Sauce/White Sauce with?

This Cheese Sauce is best served alongside Silverside (Corned Beef), Steamed Veggies, Pasta Bake and also perfect when making Lasagna.
