I’ve jumped back on the healthy eating bandwagon again over the past few weeks in an attempt not only to lose a few pesky kgs, but simply because I feel so much better inside and out when I’m eating well and exercising more. However all of my good intention completely flew out of the door when it came time to cut this deliciously naught one bowl Chocolate Mars Bar Cake.
If you are looking for a cake that is rich, chocoately and most importantly full of Mars Bars, then this is the cake for you.
I’d been meaning to make this cake for almost a year (yep seriously!) after the delicious success that was my Chocolate Snickers Cake and I certainly wasn’t disappointed with the two spoonfuls I allowed myself to try, and I can assure you it took every part of my self control to stop eating this cake!
When it comes to decorating this cake, you can keep it as simple as you like, or go all out. My boys helped me decorate our Chocolate Mars Bar Cake (can’t you tell?!) with a simple chocolate ganache and Mar Bar pieces.

- 250 g melted butter slightly cooled
- ¾ cup caster sugar

- 3 eggs
- ¾ cup of milk
- ¾ cup sifted cocoa
- 5 Mars Bars – chopped into small pieces
- 1 extra mars bar to decorate
- Chocolate icing

- Put all of your ingredients into a large bowl and whisk until mixture is just smooth.
- Add the chopped Mars Bars and carefully fold through.
- Pour mixture into the cake tin and bake for approximately 40 minutes or until cake is cooked through when tested with a skewer.
- Let the Chocolate Mars Bar Cake cool in the tin for 10 minutes before carefully transferring onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once the cake has cooled, decorate with your favourite chocolate icing or ganache and decorate with the remaining Mars Bar.

Do you think I could cook them as muffins? Just check on them regularly to see when they’re cooked??
Lauren
Hi Rachel, You probably could, I haven’t tried it before though. Alternatively you could use a plain chocolate muffin recipe and add some chopped Mars Bars to it 🙂
Tamara
Can I use twin bars instead? 🙂
Lauren
Yes you can 🙂
Marj

Lauren
Hi Marj, I use the full size Mars Bars – the bigger the better 😉 Enjoy!

I also usually don’t decorate much, I guess I am not patient enough. But this cake sounds really delicious!
Claire
Could anyone advise what the grams would be instead of the cup measures please?
Lauren
Hi Claire, I regularly use this site to convert 🙂

H I’m Ann also interested in making this Mars Bar cake. Which site do you use to convert the cup measures into grams or can you please convert for me.
