This gorgeous Christmas Trifle Recipe will become your new favourite Trifle Recipe! This Trifle is incredibly easy to put together and makes the most of in season fruits and berries. You can make this Trifle up to two days in advance, making it the perfect dessert for entertaining. This recipe can also be modified to suit your tastes and also the number of people you are catering for.

Why you will love this recipe:

This Christmas Trifle recipe is based on one of the most popular no bake dessert recipes on my site – my simple Trifle Recipe and it really is no wonder so many people love it!

    • This Trifle recipe is perfect if you are feeding a crowd (you can get 10 serves from it).
    • It is also REALLY is incredibly easy to make – I promise! All you need to do is assemble the Trifle Layers.
    • You can also modify this recipe to suit your taste and the number of people you are catering for.
    • Make ahead – you can make this Christmas Trifle up to two days ahead of when you need it, although I would suggest not adding the final decorations until you are ready to serve.

    Christmas Trifle Ingredients:

To make this Trifle recipe, you will need:

    • Jam Rolls – You can find these in the bread aisle at your local supermarket.
    • Custard – either store bought or homemade is fine. I would suggest buying a ‘thick’ custard though.
    • Jelly – you can use any flavour of jelly for this recipe however we do enjoy raspberry and strawberry flavoured jelly in this recipe.
    • Thickened Cream
    • Your favourite berries and fruit

    How to make a Trifle:

Please note you will find the full method and ingredient list in the recipe card below:

    1. Assemble the Jam Roll pieces in the base of your serving dish,
    2. Add half of the fruit, custard and jelly,
    3. Top with cream.
    4. Repeat
    5. Decorate the top of your Trifle with your favourite summer berries and fruits.

    Tips for Making Christmas Trifle:

    • When making this Christmas Trifle recipe you can really be as creative as you like when it comes to adding the layers, I like to thinly slice the strawberries lengthways to decorate the sides of the serving bowl, however if you are pressed for time, you can easily skip this step.
    • You can also use either homemade or store bought custard for this recipe, you will just need around one litre in total.
    • You can also put this Trifle together the day before, just cover it with some cling wrap to help stop the whipped cream from ‘drying’ out.

    • Serving Bowl

    Ingredients

    • 85 grams strawberry jelly crystals 1 pack
    • 600 mls thickened cream
    • 2 tablespoon icing sugar
    • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    • 800 grams jam swiss roll
    • 1 Litre vanilla custard you can either make your own or buy a bottle already pre-made
    • 500 grams strawberries
    • 250 grams blueberries
    • 250 grams raspberries

    Instructions

    • Make your jelly as per the packet instructions and pour it into a large bowl and place into the fridge to set.
    • Cut the jam swiss roll into 1cm pieces.
    • Thinly slice the strawberries and set aside until needed.
    • Place the cream, vanilla extract and icing sugar into the bowl of an electric mixer and beat until soft peaks form. Set aside until needed.
    • Arrange ½ of the jam swiss roll slices over the base of a 3L serving bowl and top with ½ jelly, ½ of the custard and ⅓ of the berries. You can arrange the sliced strawberries around the outside of the bowl for a nice effect.
    • Repeat in the same order again to fill your serving bowl.  Add a layer of cream on top and sprinkle the remaining berries over the top.
    • Place your trifle into the fridge for a minimum of 4 hours, or overnight if possible.
