Women’s health is a cause very close to my heart and I think there are far too many of us out there who just don’t look after ourselves properly.  While there is no denying I enjoy a sweet treat (or two!) quite regularly, I also know it’s important to make sure I am eating a balanced diet and getting all the nutrients and vitamins I need to keep me well both now and in the future.

Next week Dairy Australia is running Healthy Bones Action Week (which kicks off on Monday) and this year the focus is on women age 50 and over as they are most at risk of accelerated bone loss growth which can lead to conditions such as Osteoporosis.  This year Healthy Bones Action Week is all about encouraging these women to sign up for the Fit, Fab & 50 Challenge to help them kick start their journey towards better bone health by helping them to take action for stronger bones.

Along with getting outside and enjoying the sunshine for a good Vitamin D hit, engaging in regular weight bearing exercise and eating four daily serves of dairy are other ways to help keep our bones healthy, so today I’m sharing a calcium rich recipe for Banana, Date and Walnut Overnight Oats from the Legendairy recipe collection.

    Easy Overnight Oats

As well as being filled with lots of good stuff, these easy Overnight Oats are also quick to prepare and are a great way of making sure you eat a substantial breakfast instead of eating your toddlers leftovers….

I hadn’t thought about putting the oats in milk etc and leaving it overnight in the refrigerator. Great idea and I am going to have to try this recipe.

The rolled oats in the ingredients… Is this pre-cooked or dry?

Hi Mary, The rolled oats I used in this recipe were dry. I hope that helps 🙂

Being a yoghurt freak I think I am pretty high up on the calcium intake but I just luuurve overnight oats. I also use coconut milk to make my overnight oats for a tropical treat in the morning. Yum!
