I’m sure that I’m not the only one who has trouble resisting the seemingly never-ending array of treats in the lead up to Christmas. It often feels like no matter where I go, I’m surrounded by gorgeous dessert platters and yummy treats that not only look amazing but taste great too – and although fun, my hips sure regret it later! While there is nothing wrong with the odd indulgence (and let’s face it, we all know I LOVE to do that!) it’s also nice to have healthier lighter dessert and food options available that taste great and are better for you – after all it’s all about balance right?! When the lovely team from Chi of Life asked if I’d like to put together a healthy Christmas Dessert, I couldn’t resist the challenge! As much as I’m all for celebrating the holidays and creating memories with family and friends, I also don’t want to have to go out and buy a new wardrobe when it’s all over!
These Healthy Mini Pavlovas are the perfect light Christmas Dessert option. The secret is in the portion size and also substituting the traditional cream layer with a a natural pot set yoghurt instead.
I decided to use Jalna Vanilla Yoghurt along with fresh mango and strawberry pieces to top my mini Pavlovas with, however you could certainly choose to use your favourite natural yoghurt and fruit.
Not only do these Mini Pavlovas taste great (and are better for you than a big slice of traditional Pav) but they are also so easy to put together. You can certainly make your own Mini Pavlovas from scratch, simply use a round cookie cutter or glass to trace out small circles on your baking tray and place the Pavlova mixture onto them, however if you are short on time (and let’s face it, who isn’t at this time of year!) then you can also grab a pack of pre-made Mini Pavlovas from your local supermarket and within 15 minutes you will have a yummy and gorgeous looking dessert ready for your friends and family.
Healthy Mini Pavlovas
Ingredients
- 9 pre-made mini pavlovas
- 500 g pot of Jalna Vanilla Yoghurt
- 1 mango
- 5 strawberries
Instructions
- Cut the mango and strawberries into small pieces and set aside until needed.
- Place the mini Pavlovas onto your serving plate and top with approximately 1 ½ tablespoons of yoghurt. Give your yoghurt a good stir before placing on top of the mini pavlovas to remove any lumps.
- Arrange the cut fruit on top of your mini pavlovas and pop them back into the fridge until ready to serve.

These look adorable and very light compared to many of the other Christmas goodies! We’re so lucky to be able to get fresh mangoes and berries this time of year. I love Jalna yoghurts and used to eat them all the time in Australia, but we don’t have them or anything like it in NZ 🙁

Oh dear, I’m sure there is something similar. It’s always good to have some lighter options available 🙂
