Skewers - optional
- 1 brown onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 500 grams beef mince
- handful fresh parsley leaves
- 1 tablespoon dried mixed herbs
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander seeds
Grate the onion and crush the garlic and place into a large bowl
Add the beef mince and remaining ingredients and stir well to combine.
Scoop up large golf ball size scoops of the mixture. Shape the mixture around your skewers (or into logs) and place onto a plate. Repeat until you have used all of the mixture.
Place a tablespoon of olive oil (or ghee) into a large frying pan and heat over a medium/high heat.
Carefully add the koftas (you may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your pan) and cook for 2 -3 minutes each side or until beginning to brown. Carefully turn and repeat until the koftas are brown all over and cooked through.
Thermomix Instructions
Slice the brown onion in half and add it along with the garlic cloves to your Thermomix bowl. Mix for 6 seconds, speed 6 to grate.
Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add the remaining ingredients. Mix for 10 seconds, speed 5 to combine.
Scrape down the base and sides of the Thermomix bowl and mix for a further 5 seconds, speed 5.
Remove the bowl from your Thermomix and scoop up large golf ball size scoops of the mixture.
- Both the cooked and uncooked kofta is freezer friendly.
- I cooked these in a frying pan with a little ghee, however you can also bake them or cook on a BBQ/Grill.
- If you prefer to make these without skewers that is fine.
- This recipe can easily be doubled, however please ensure you do not go over the maximum fill line if making in a Thermomix.
