Equipment

  • 1 x 18 x 28cm slice tray

Ingredients

  • 250 grams Marie Biscuits
  • 200 grams sweetened condensed milk
  • 180 grams Caramello Chocolate
  • 60 grams butter
  • 20 grams desiccated coconut

Topping

  • 360 grams Milk Chocolate

Instructions

  • Line a 28cm x 18cm slice tray with baking paper making sure you leave paper hanging over the sides to help remove the slice from the tin once set.
  • Crush the biscuits into small pieces - you can use a food processor, or just bash them with the end of a rolling pin!
  • Break the Caramello Chocolate into squares and place it into a microwave bowl along with the butter (which has been cubed) and cook until melted - I cook for 30 second spurts and mix together in between.
  • In a large bowl add the melted butter & chocolate, condensed milk, coconut and crushed biscuits. Mix together to combine and then pour into the prepared tray.
  • Using a metal spoon, spread slice evenly over the tray and push down to smooth.
  • Break the milk chocolate into pieces and place it into a microwave safe bowl and cook for 30 second spurts until it has melted.
  • Pour the melted milk chocolate over the top of the Caramello Slice and place in the fridge for 2 hours or until set.
  • Remove the set slice from the baking tray and cut into small pieces (or large - no judgement here!) and enjoy.

Thermomix Instructions

  • Line a 28cm x 18cm slice tray with baking paper making sure you leave paper hanging over the sides to help remove the slice from the tin once set.
  • Place biscuits into the Thermomix bowl and crush using the turbo function 3 - 4 times or until crushed. Set the biscuits aside until needed.
  • Place the butter and Caramello chocolate (broken into squares) into the Thermomix bowl and cook for 3 minutes, 60 degrees, speed 2 or until melted.
  • Add the reserved crushed biscuits, coconut and condensed milk to the bowl and mix for 20 seconds, speed 3 on REVERSE or until well combined.
  • Transfer the mixture into the prepared tray and smooth the surface.
  • Break the milk chocolate into pieces and place into the Thermomix bowl. Grate for 10 seconds, Speed 5.
  • Cook for 3 minutes, 50 degrees, speed 3 or until melted.
  • Pour and spread the melted chocolate over the prepared base.
  • Refrigerate for 2 hours or until completely set and hardened. Cut the slice into pieces

Notes

  • We use Arnott's Marie Biscuits for this recipe but you can use any type of plain sweet biscuit.
  • You will need approximately ½ a tin of sweetened condensed milk.
  • We use two blocks of milk chocolate for this recipe, you can use one if you prefer. Please note the chocolate layer will be thinner.
  • To assist with clean cutting, add a teaspoon of coconut oil to the melted milk chocolate.
  • This slice is best stored in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoyed within 7 days.
