Earlier this month we went on our first family holiday up to Noosa. While we have been on trips before, it’s always been to visit family and friends, so it was a bit special for our little family to spend five gorgeous days together. We made no plans for our trip, we simply decided on the day (and on the spot!) what we wanted to do depending on how the boys were travelling.
We braved the heat and went on a bush walk.
The boys had a ball.
Without a doubt this has been the highlight of our month, maybe even our year. After the struggles, tears and setbacks we’ve endured over the past five years in our quest to start our family, it felt quite surreal to actually be on a family holiday with our two special boys. As I watched their faces light up as the waves raced towards their feet or saw their looks of concentration, as they dug in the sand my heart fell full and my mind content. I reflected on our journey, and how far we have come. And whilst things are not always so rosy, I am extremely grateful for what we have and wouldn’t trade it for the world.
This month I’ve also decided to stop and take stock. Thanks to Pip from Meet me at Mikes for this list.
Making : the most of the peace whilst the boys are at kindy.
Cooking : nothing today, it’s leftovers for dinner tonight!
Drinking : the dregs from my iced latte.
Reading: Gone Girl, yep I know I’m a bit slow to the party so please no spoilers!
Wanting: so many things.
Looking: at the wind blowing the boys toy wagon across the backyard.
Playing: catch up.
Deciding: to take charge.
Wishing: for more hours in the day.
Enjoying: a gorgeous breeze blowing through the window.
Waiting: for things to change, but knowing I am responsible for making things happen.
Liking: this feeling of accomplishment.
Wondering: if it will last.
Loving: cuddles from my boys.
Pondering: are we done?
Considering: our options.
Watching: the clock.
Hoping: for miracles.
Marvelling: at how far we have come.
Needing: to keep things simple.
Smelling: the perfume I wore on our wedding day.
Wearing: the same colour top as the boys today – I swear it’s a coincidence, I really don’t mean to dress the same!
Following: Scandal, one of my favourite shows.
Noticing: things are not as complex as they seem.
Knowing: we will get there.
Thinking: this time three years ago. I was 24 weeks pregnant with our big boy and was admitted to hospital to wait until he arrived.
Sorting: out what needs to be done next.
Buying: groceries online – I’m a little addicted.
Getting: organised for my Mum’s arrival tomorrow.
Disliking: how unfair life can be sometime.
Opening: my mind to new directions and possibilities.
What’s on your mind this week?
