It was only last week that I stopped and took stock of what I need to get done before Christmas – which probably wasn’t a bad idea given it’s just two and a half weeks away….. eek! I’m pleased to say we are fairly organised. We are having a quiet Christmas at home this year, just the four of us and I have to be honest and say I am really looking forward to it.
The majority of our shopping has thankfully been done, and I just need to post a few gifts to family this week. What did give me mild heart palpitations was the number of gifts I need to make this year for the boys teachers. Now that our baby boy is at kindy one day a week, this year I now need to come up with 7 gifts for the lovely ladies who look after the boys. Then when I add their swimming teachers, who patiently work with them each week, it results in a grand total of 9 gifts – holy moley!
While I prefer to make my own gifts, not only is it cheaper, but it’s more personal and who am I kidding – I love to bake, I’m planning to mix things up a bit this year. I will still be giving the lovely ladies some baked goodies (I’m thinking Shortbread and possibly this fudge), I’m also planning to give some of these cute Christmas reindeer bottles I came across on Pintrest.
The boys and I had a lot of fun putting them together (they are always excited when there is glue to play with) and all up it cost around $3 a gift – pretty good value I think.
You will need:
4 x milk bottles (I bought a pack of six from Kmart for $6)
Large Pack of Maltesers
6 x brown or black pipe cleaners
4 sets of ‘eyes’
4 small red pom poms
craft glue
Let’s put it together!
Wash the milk bottles with warm soapy water and towel dry.
Cut two pipe cleaners into quarters – you will end up with eight pieces.
Wrap one long pipe cleaner around the top of the bottle and twist to attach.
Twist two of the smaller pieces approximately half way along each length – this creates the antlers.
Glue the eyes and nose to the bottle to create the Reindeer’s face.
Fill the bottle with Maltesers, or your favourite chocolate.
Do you give gifts to your kids teachers? I’d love to hear your gift ideas!

What a cute idea! We already have our teacher gifts sorted for this year, but I’m definitely going to pin this one to return to for next year! It certainly does all add up when you factor in kinder, school, swimming, dance, gymnastic teachers and so on. We are also making homemade gifts this year – I think my girls really enjoy creating them, they mean a lot more and it’s great value for mum too!

This is such a cool idea. Next year when Hayley’s a bit older I’m going to try more Christmas craft and handmade ideas. This year she’d still just try and eat everything.

You’re supposed to give presents to their teachers? Clearly my parents didn’t do the right thing! Now that you’ve made me aware of parent-ettiquette, I’m going to give your cool reindeer bottles a bash!
Thanks, and brilliant site. I’m on a diet, so I hate you for all of the amazing looking naughty recipes, but love the site!
