Many of you probably know that we are expecting baby number #3 in a couple of months time and I thought today I would share a little about what’s been happening in the lead up to it’s arrival. At 29 weeks, I’m now officially in my third trimester and I’m just starting feeling quite optimistic (even though everyone around me isn’t) about achieving a pregnancy PB and getting further than 32 weeks, as long as I don’t have another weekend filled with contractions like a couple of weeks ago!
Touch wood it was a once off and this little one stays cooking for another couple of months, I had a little op early in my second trimester in the hope of keeping this bub in as long as possible, but it’s hard to not be a little anxious of another early arrival, and there was a big sigh of relief as well as a feeling of disbelief that this was really happening when I reached 24 weeks, or viability.
I’d love to share a ‘styled’ shot with you, but in reality I take any bump shots in the baby’s room which is currently filled with clothes, toys and let’s face it, crap from it’s big brothers.
Yep, I’m pretty huge already and I’ve given up keeping track of the number of people who have commented that I must be further along than I think – as let’s face it, it’s totally their business right?! I’m always huge during each pregnancy and given this is the fourth one in five years I think my abdominal muscles are pretty much non existent by now!
I’m pretty limited to what I can actually do while pregnant, with lifting anything heavy (including the boys), exercising or any strenuous activity all out. It’s been hard trying to rest and take it easy with a four year old and an almost three year old running around, and of course there is the guilt of not being able to do as much with them or around the house as I normally would, but knowing what the alternative is, it’s all worth it.
Spending most of our time at home isn’t all bad, it’s allowed me experiment and indulge my cravings, which has resulted in me practically living off these Cauliflower Fritters after a long love affair with Chicken, Cheese and Pesto Quesadillas. I’ve also been slowly working on stocking up the freezer in case I end up in hospital or bub arrives early, and am pretty confident my husband and the boys will be well looked after!
It’s taken awhile to wrap our heads around this pregnancy as unlike our previous three which were all IVF, this one was a complete surprise – yep I’ve become one of those people that used to frustrate me when we were trying to conceive for all of those years. What also makes this bub extra special is that it shares the same due date as our almost three year old, which is coincidentally the day after our twins were due back in 2011 – yes it’s all very bizarre.
We are both incredibly excited to be adding to our family, as after a couple of failed IVF attempts 18 months ago I’d only just started to accept that we were ‘done’ after struggling with the fact that this decision had been taken away from us. I’ve got everything crossed that it’s smooth sailing over the next few weeks and months, but if I suddenly go quiet you will all know why!
