Back in February when I attended the launch of Spotlight’s Craft Month I was introduced to Heidi Swapp’s Marquee Love Lights. I spent the following three weeks
stalking following up with my local store to check whether the Marquee Love Lights were in stock. The call that they had arrived finally came as we were in the car on our way home from the airport after flying back from Melbourne, and as was my desire to grab the letters that I needed, we made a detour on our way home to pick them up.
The allure of these Marquee Light Kits is the design and how you use them is completely up to you. I wanted to get a one each for our boys as well as our nephew with the idea of using them as a night light to help these three
crazy high energy toddlers go to sleep.
The Marquee Love Lights comes with a template for the letter you have bought as well as the globes and light leads. All you then need is some Craft Glue, Scissors, a Pen and your choice of materials to decorate it with. I picked up 100 sheets of scrapbooking paper for $9 and then purchased the glitter scrapbook paper for around $1.20 a piece. When you take everything out of the Marquee Love box, you will find a template for your letter. Use this to trace around and cut the coloured paper you are using for your light’s backdrop. If you are using patterned paper, it’s a good idea to have a play around with the positioning to make sure you get as much of the image as you can.
Using your craft glue, stick the cutout to the Marquee Light.
Measure the width of the Marquee Light and cut strips of paper to decorate the sides, if you have a little helper like I did, this is a great activity for them to help you with. My little guy was using these strips to ‘measure’ how tall he was….
I found the easiest away to attach the paper to the sides was to first bend it to the shape of the letter and then apply the glue. Once you have applied the glue, leave it to try for 20 minutes.
These make a great night light for the kids, we simply turn the boys lights off once they have fallen asleep.
Our big boy was also very excited about his special “Letter Light” as you can see from the below video – I promise I didn’t coach or prompt him at all!
Have you ever stalked a store waiting for a new product to arrive?
** Please note this is not a sponsored post, I just fell in love with these Marquee Lights when I discovered them!
