I love planning my boys birthday parties, in fact I actually prefer the planning and preparation more than the party itself! I easily lose myself for hours on Pintrest, searching for ideas that don’t look too complicated and fit in with our theme (that is when we have one!)
As I’ve said before, I am all for party bags as I think they are the perfect way to wrap up a birthday party, as well as being a small gesture thanking our guests for coming along and celebrating with us.
I like to create individual party bags for each guest, especially when the kids who attended our parties usually range in age from 6 months through to 5 years old.
For our little ones recent first birthday, I wanted something a little more traditional, but also wanted to avoid handing out a bag of sugar filled treats. I found some great little kids gifts at K-Mart and the kids were very excited to check out their goodie bags as the party began to wind up.
These are really easy to make. You can pick up the supplies at any discount store. To make your own party bags you will need:
– 4 sheets (different coloured) of textured cardboard
– 2 sheets of plain white paper
– Paper Bags (purchased from the craft section at K-Mart)
– Black Marker
– Glue Stick
It’s the colourful name tags that really make these party bags. To create these, cut the white paper into similar sized rectangles and write the name of each guest in the centre.
You then need to cut larger rectangles from the coloured cardboard and stick then glue the guests name in the centre. All you then need to do is stick the name tag onto the paper bag and allow the glue to dry.
It’s now time for the fun part! I picked up some great party bag goodies from K-mart at a cost of $20, and this was enough to fill bags for 16 kids.
And there you have it, in less than an hour you will have created cute and unique party bags for the little ones.
