This morning we among the 600+ members of the Redlands community participating in the Mater Little Miracles 5k walk. It’s a cause very close to our hearts, both myself and our boys are amongst the 172,000 women, babies and children from across Queensland who been helped, and are only here thanks to the Mater Hospital.
Over two and a half years and three pregnancies, we have spent a combined 164 days as patients of the Mater Mothers Hospital. I have been admitted for 98 days, Big Boy 37 days and Baby Boy spent 29 days in hospital.
Over the past couple of hours I have been trying to describe our experience. I’ve been trying to put into words the indescribable compassion, phenomenal care and the eternal gratitude both myself and our family have towards the Mater Mothers staff.
I can’t do it. I just can’t do it justice. Instead I’m keeping it simple. Without the state of the art equipment and the brilliant staff at the Mater Mothers, neither of our boys would be with us.
So this morning we are walking for our four little miracles, as well as the thousands of other special Mums, Babies and Kids who pass through the doors of this amazing hospital.
